As an innovative player, Artek develops products at the intersection of design, architecture, and art. Ethical production and sustainable quality are guaranteed.

Artek was founded in Helsinki in 1935 by four young idealists: Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen and Nils-Gustav Hahl. Their aim was “to sell furniture and to promote modern living culture through exhibitions and other educational means”. Aalto’s vision was to combine modern production methods with skilful craftsmanship and carefully selected materials. Aalto developed a patented process for bending wood. He created the characteristic L-leg that is used in the construction of numerous stools, chairs, benches, and tables in the Artek collection.

Artek produces furniture, lighting, and accessories designed by Finnish masters and contemporary international designers. You’ll find a wide selection of items at Designcollectors, including the Stool 60, Paimio Armchair, Tea Trolley, Tank, and more designs by Alvar Aalto, the Domus Chair, Kiki Bench, etc. by Tapiovaara, and the Kaari collection and textiles with the Rivi motif by the Bouroullec brothers.
