Vitra

In 1953, Willi Fehlbaum discovered chairs designed by Charles and Ray Eames and decided to become a furniture manufacturer. His friendship with the designer duo shaped the family business. The value that Vitra places on unusual architecture is characteristic. For example, the company museum and a factory building in Weil am Rhein were built by Frank Gehry in 1989, and the head office in Birsfelden in 1994. The Vitra Design Museum displays a unique collection of furniture, lighting, and special objects. The museum is part of the Vitra Campus, a site with masterpieces by various contemporary architects.

Design classics by Nelson, Eames, Noguchi, Prouvé, and Panton form the basis of the Vitra Home Collection. Vitra has also collaborated with Hella Jongerius, Eero Saarinen and Maarten Van Severen.
