This elegant bentwood classic Thonet 209 Chair is a masterpiece in its construction and production: the projecting frame that forms both the backrest and armrest is bent into its form from a single piece of solid beech wood. The Thonet chair 209 consists of only six parts. Due to its aesthetic reduction in combination with the organic form, it almost looks like a sculpture. Le Corbusier was fascinated with it and used it in many of his buildings, for example the Weissenhof Estate in Stuttgart in 1927. According to him "this chair has nobility." You can choose the Thonet 209 Chair with open back or with backrest. Seat and backrest with cane work, the seat is also available as moulded plywood. For seats that will receive heavy use, a transparent plastic mesh is available for supporting the cane work. Also available at Designcollectors in Pure Materials version.
