The relaunched S 179 bar trolley, originally designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in the 1930s, brings iconic modernist design into the present day. This mobile and versatile piece is crafted from chrome-plated tubular steel, with a form that follows its function. A single, continuous central tube defines the structure and rests on three points: two elegant wheels and a front bend in the frame. The aluminium wheel rims, fitted with rubber rings, ensure smooth movement, while the trolley is easily guided with the black leather handle embossed with the Thonet logo.
Two removable grey-tinted glass shelves provide space for glasses, bottles and bar accessories — or for books, vases and decorative objects. The shelves are securely held in place by a flat, chrome-plated steel frame. For added stability, a discreet rail above the lower shelf prevents bottles from tipping. Compared with the original design, this new edition is slightly larger in scale, making it perfectly suited to today’s interiors.
