Alfonso Mila

Alfonso Mila

Federico Correa and Alfonso Milá, born in 1924 and schoolmates since age ten, earned their doctorates in architecture at the University of Barcelona. In 1953, they founded their architectural bureau, establishing a lifelong partnership. Renowned for their rational approach, they excelled in architecture, interior, and industrial design, promoting Barcelona and Spain’s creative work internationally.

Their style, influenced by the Modern Movement and mentors like Josep Maria Jujol and José Antonio Coderch, is evident in projects like Barcelona’s Flash-Flash (1969) and the Barceloneta armchair (1953). Despite their success, they found furniture and lighting design challenging, leading them to collaborate with designer Miguel Milá, Alfonso’s brother.

Correa and Milá are celebrated for their human-centered, warm approach to design.
