Simple Elegance in a Converted Car Park
The first Parking Pizza venue on Barcelona's Passeig de Sant Joan, housed in what was once a 500-square-meter car park, embodies the essence of exquisite simplicity. Designed by Lekuona Studio and Antonio Spalletta, this restaurant features an industrial aesthetic with bare walls and ceilings that create a spontaneous relationship with the building's structure. Skylights flood the space with natural light, and the open-plan design allows diners to view the entire restaurant, including the impressive wood oven at the heart of the open kitchen.
The interior is thoughtfully designed with cardboard stools and wooden tables, fostering a communal and relaxed dining experience. The careful lighting softens the industrial character, with Cesta lamps and the classic M64 pendant lamp by Miguel Milá for Santa & Cole providing a warm, enveloping glow. The use of Santa & Cole’s HeadLed system ensures a high-quality, versatile lighting solution that enhances the restaurant's informal and inviting atmosphere.
Parking Pizza’s initial concept, launched on Barcelona's Carrer de Londres, set the stage for their success. Both the Barcelona and Madrid locations reflect a commitment to authenticity and a family-friendly atmosphere, centered around their gourmet pizzas. Parking Pizza's new location on Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid marks an exciting chapter in their journey. Spanning over 260 square meters, this venue is a testament to the harmonious blend of modern interior design with the timeless appeal of pizza. Designed by Skye Maunsell Studio and Jordi Veciana, the space retains the industrial charm and easygoing vibe found in their Barcelona locations. A highlight of the Madrid restaurant is the use of M64 lamps designed by Miguel Milá for Santa & Cole. The warm light from these lamps complements the creamy yellow tones of the shades created by colorist Clàudia Valsells, enhancing the relaxed character of the dining area.
Functionality is at the heart of this establishment’s design. The versatile cardboard stools, with their convenient storage capacity, the long oak wood tables, and the integrated kitchen underscore a design philosophy where practicality meets aesthetic appeal.
