A dialogue between Light and Colour
Claudia Valsells, Barcelona-based colourist and artist, carries out a chromatic study that reveals a new visual and emotional perception of Miguel Milá's iconic M64 lamp.
From off-white to ultramarine blue, from English green to reddish orange, the new palette is born from Valsells’ profound understanding on how colours interact. Demonstrating the close relationship between light and colour, the inside of the shades is white, a detail that softens the light reflection.
“The key lies in placing one colour next to another, so as to influence their perception and achieve the desired visual experience”.
Claudia Valsells and her chromatic language
Strongly linked to colour since the beginning of her practice as a mural painter, Claudia Valsells has partnered with architects and designers for over 20 years to define colours through her own studio Arts and Claus. After her expertise in colour forecasting and prescription, she went a step further becoming an artist, undertaking projects with her own distinctive chromatic language.
During the process of the colour study for Santa & Cole, Valsells developed the interaction of the selected colours as chromatic harmonies, which have been captured in six Neoseries, graphic work editions.
