Spectrum
During World War II, De Ploeg established ’t Spectrum in 1941 to keep staff employed despite shortages of raw materials. The first collection featured furniture made from small wood pieces and rush, with Gerrit Rietveld serving as a member of the collection’s review committee. In 1954, Martin Visser became head of design, bringing in prominent designers such as Friso Kramer, Constant Nieuwenhuys, and Benno Premsela. Spectrum grew into a beloved brand in modern Dutch households and played a key role in the ‘Goed Wonen’ foundation.
