The 23A Akari Lamp is a table lamp designed by Isamu Noguchi, a Japanese American artist and landscape architect. The lamp is part of the Akari Light Sculpture series, which Noguchi began designing in the 1950s.
The 23A Akari Lamp features a handcrafted paper shade made from washi paper and bamboo ribbing. The design is characterized by a simple, organic shape that diffuses light in a soft, warm glow. The lamp is supported by a metal frame and has a cord with an on/off switch.
The Akari Lamp series is inspired by traditional Japanese paper lanterns and reflects Noguchi's interest in sculptural forms and the relationship between light and space. The lamps are still produced by the original manufacturer in Gifu, Japan, using traditional methods and materials.
The 23A Akari Lamp is a timeless design that has become an iconic example of mid-century modern lighting.
